Vicki L. Loyer, Ph.D., LMFT
Vicki Loyer (Carlson) Ph.D., LMFT, is an AAMFT Clinical Member, Approved Supervisor and current past-president of the Arizona Association for Marriage & Family Therapy (AzAMFT). Dr. Loyer is the CEO/President of Blue Door Psychotherapy, a clinical partner at the University of Arizona Department of Psychiatry, and a Subject Matter Expert, Site Supervisor, and Instructor for Graduate Studies at Grand Canyon University. She uses a competency focused family therapy approach to working with individuals and families, and incorpates horses to provide an experiential opportunity to clients and clinical students. Dr. Loyer is a regular contributing author to the House Calls section of the Desert Leaf, co-author of books on premarital relationships and you-at-risk, and has been publishing and speaking in the areas of self-injury, mental illness, addiction, and family therapy.
Dr. Loyer is a regular presenter at the Southwest School for Behavioral Health Conference and will be presenting a one day workshop on Family therapy and an afternoon session on families with adolescents this Fall August 2017. Creating Blue Door Psychotherapy has been a dream of Dr. Loyer’s since her training with Marianne Walters, LCSW, in Washington DC in the early 1990s. Marianne Walters was the leader of the Women’s project in Family Therapy and co-author of The Invisible Web, and developed the competency focused model of family therapy.
In her free time, Dr. Loyer enjoys spending time with her daughters, and with her two dogs. She enjoys trail riding and caring for her horses and enjoys spending time in her garden.
Maureen McCabe, LCSW
Maureen McCabe is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience. Maureen has worked all levels of mental health services, from inpatient level one hospitals as a clinician and clinical supervisor, to outpatient behavioral health services clinician and supervisor. She brings expertise in mental health evaluation, crisis evaluation, and emergency and crisis intervention, and mediation. Maureen brings the unique talent of in-home therapy for individuals, couples, and families to the Blue Door Psychotherapy’s Individual and Family Intensive therapy programs. Other areas of expertise include geriatric services, and working with families after a member’s incarceration. Treatment modality preferences include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Treatment, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
Roberta Hill, LCSW
Roberta Hill is a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of clinical experience. She has worked in psychiatric hospitals and in outpatient settings, and specializes in addiction treatment, group therapy, and case management. Roberta lives with her husband and daughter, and her very pampered cats.
Shari Fernandes-Coburn, LPC, CRC
Shari Fernandes-Cobrun is a Liecensed Professional Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. She had dedicated 13 years to the behavioral health field in various capacities. She has worked with individuals and families in teh areas of substance abuse, trauma, depression, stress, anxiety and also offers her expertise in vocational rehabilitation counseling. She obtained a master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Massachusetts - Boston and an undergraduate degree from Florida A & M University. When she is not working to better lives of others she spends time exercising, traveling and making memories with friends and family.
Cathy Negelspach, BS
Cathy Negelspach is a horse professional and educator. Her undergraduate education at Oregon State University focused on education and environmental sciences and she has taught every age group from preschool through adulthood. Cathy is known for her creative artwork, her love and care of the desert, and frequently provides individual trail rides into Sabino Canyon. In addition to a husband and three grown children, Cathy has two horses (Midnight and Flash), dog, cat, chickens, and peacocks.

Graduate Intern from Fullar Seminary
Renay Burger is a graduate intern from Fuller Theological Seminary, pursuing her MS in
Marriage and Family Therapy with an emphasis in Emotionally Focused and Experiential
Therapies. Renay anticipates graduating in June 2018 with her MS MFT. Before graduate
school, she offered five years working as a life coach, mentor, and minister to college students
at the University of Arizona. Prior to that, she dedicated seven years working a middle and high
school English teacher in Tucson, AZ and before that, Chicago, IL. After 12 years working with
early through late adolescents as a teacher and minister, she is especially passionate about
aiding those in that life stage as well as assisting those in helping professions, such as teachers,
ministers, and others who offer direct care to those in crisis. When Renay is not helping people
in a professional capacity, she enjoys hiking, biking, rock climbing, running, playing the fiddle
and writing poetry. Enjoying the adventure of marriage with her husband Aaron for 15 years,
she is also the proud mama of their son Noam, who is in elementary school.
Social Media/Business Development Intern
Thomas Noth is a Senior at the University of Arizona majoring in Psychology and German Studies. Thomas brings his talents in social media, business organization, and mental health to the Blue Door team and is looking forward to a career in clinical mental health.
